Wire Flame Spraying metal surface treatment service thermal spray coating process service. Uses oxy-fuel flame plus compressed air atomization. Gun design is straightforward, easy to operate and maintain. Cheaper than arc spray, plasma, or HVOF systems. Good for small shops, maintenance teams, and field service. Lightweight gun, no need for three-phase power. Can be used on bridges, tanks, pipelines, ships, and large structures on site. Substrate temperature usually 95 to 205 deg C. Minimal distortion, no change to base metal heat treatment. Wire feed is continuous and uniform. Compared with powder flame spraying, feeding is easier and deposition is more stable. Metal wire melts fully at the tip; material utilization is commonly over 80 percent. Less loss than powder flame spray. Atomizing air breaks molten wire into fine droplets, giving finer lamellae and better coating uniformity. Still not as dense as HVOF or arc spray, but better than powder flame spray.
